About Michael L. Strong
Greetings! My name is Michael Strong. I am a passionate adult educator and professional geographer who specializes in the relationships people form with their environment. I have taught college-level courses at public institutions in Maryland and Arizona, including Glendale Community College, my current position. At GCC, I am the program coordinator for the AA in Arts (emphasis in Sustainability and Environmental Studies) in addition to teaching courses in physical and cultural geography, sustainability, and the environmental sciences.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, gardening, and hiking. It is my goal to visit every site in the U.S. public lands system. As a professional geographer, I like to travel to small towns across America, and encourage others to do the same. There is profound beauty in discovering the unseen in the many places often left out of popular travel guides and blogs. You can read about some of these adventures in my travel blog (coming soon). I have three cats, a growing plant collection, and several aquariums in the home I share with my partner in Phoenix, Arizona.
